Nieuwe data masterclass Vincent IckeOp 30 en 31 maart en 8 juni organiseert de iArts opleiding van Maastricht een masterclass met astrofysicus en kunstenaar Vincent Icke op de Jan van Eyck Academie. De masterclass stond eerder gepland voor februari 2012, maar moest wegens ziekte van Icke worden geannuleerd.  De masterclass behandelt de rol, beperkingen en uitdagingen van de zintuiglijke ervaring in de kunsten. Behalve als professor in de theoretische astronomie aan de universiteit van Leiden en professor in de kosmologie aan de universiteit van Amsterdam, werkt Vincent Icke ook als kunstenaar en grafisch ontwerper in een breed gamma aan stijlen, media, toepassingen en concepten. Als ongewone combinatie van wetenschapper en kunstenaar, onderzoeker en leraar, specialist en populariseerder van wetenschap, is hij vaak te gast bij het televisieprogramma De Wereld Draait Door.  De kosten voor de volledige masterclass bedragen € 150. 17 februari - 16 maart 2012Belgische kunstprijs voor Adrien LuccaAdrien Lucca, voormalig onderzoeker Beeldende Kunst, ontving op 15 februari 2012 de Prijs van de Regering van de Franse Gemeenschap. De prijs is onderdeel van de Mediatineprijs, een wedstrijd georganiseerd door Cultureel Centrum Wolubilis, dat bij gelegenheid nog vier andere prijzen heeft uitgereikt aan jonge kunstenaars die de hedendaagse kunstpraktijk vernieuwen en stimuleren. Er wordt een catalogus uitgegeven en een tentoonstelling georganiseerd rond het werk van de laureaten en van de kunstenaars die van de jury een speciale vermelding krijgen. De tentoonstelling vindt plaats in de Mediatine, Pierre Leviedreef 1 te Brussel (BE). De Jan van Eyck Go Club
Het hele jaar 2012 vindt u op de Jan van Eyck Academie de Jan van Eyck Go Club, opgezet door kunstenaar en onderzoeker Christophe Lemaitre. De Jan van Eyck Go Club focust op het Go spel als artistieke studiopraktijk en als esthetische club. 

Drie keer dit jaar nodigt de Go Club gasten (een kunstenaar, filosoof, wetenschapper, kunsthistoricus en Go-speler) uit om de esthetiek van het Go-spel te exploreren, en het spel te fictionaliseren als een allegorie op de kunst. De eerste bijeenkomst vindt plaats op 13 en 14 maart en is gericht op de geschiedenis van het spel en het gebruik van speelgoed als instrumenten in de pedagogie en kunst. De ruimte en spelborden zijn vrij toegankelijk van maandag tot vrijdag van 9 tot 17u. Details over het project vindt u hier.

The Jan van Eyck Go Club
Throughout 2012, the Jan van Eyck Go Club is present at the Jan van Eyck Academie; it has been set up by artist and researcher Christophe Lemaitre.

The project assumes two aspects: first, playing Go as a studio practice, and secondly, the club is to be an aesthetic club. In other words, the Jan van Eyck Go Club is an aesthetic club materialising itself as a Go game club.

Three times this year, the Go Club will invite guests (an artist, philosopher, scientist, art historian and Go player) to explore the aesthetics of the Go game and, in the end, to narrate and fictionalise the game as an allegory of art. The first meeting will be on 13 and 14 March (with Aurélien Froment, Kendall Walton, Aurélien Mole) and will focus on the game’s history, the use of toys as tools for pedagogy and toys made by artists. The space and the game sets are freely accessible from Mondays to Fridays from 9:00 to 17:00.

In deze editie wordt samengewerkt met studenten van de Hogeschool van de Kunsten Utrecht en componisten van het conservatorium van Maastricht. Opening Van Eyck Labs

Met een feestelijk programma openen de nieuwe en vernieuwde Van Eyck Labs op donderdag 29 maart aanstaande hun deuren. U bent van harte welkom om te zien welke mogelijkheden het Charles Nypels Lab (drukwerkplaats), Werner Mantz Lab (time-based art), Heimo Lab (constructiewerkplaats) en Pierre Kemp Lab (bibliotheek) aan onderzoekers én aan gebruikers van buiten bieden. The new and renovated Van Eyck Labs will open their doors on 29 March with a festive programme.
