OPEN STUDIOS 2016 

From 10 -12 March 2016 all doors of the Van Eyck will be open again for the third edition of the Open Studios. The participating artists, designers, architects, curators, writers and poets present their work in their studios, the exhibition spaces and other areas of the Van Eyck. They all have had a one-year stay (or thereabout) at the institute. The results of their residency, which comprises both individual and collaborative work, will be on show and testify to the stance and possibilities of the Van Eyck. The central exhibition is curated by participant Vincent van Velsen, the poets and writers-in-residence present a programme of reading from their own work. 

FACT:
Thursday 10 and Friday 11 March from 12:00 - 17:00 the academy welcomes invited guests.
Friday 11 March from 17:00 – 19:00 Birgit Donker, director Mondriaan Fund will festively open the Open Studios
Saturday 12 March from 10:00 – 17:00 the Van Eyck holds open house for the public at large.

* Writers Studio: is the workspace of the poets and writers-in-residence of the academy. During the Open Studios the writers (Rosan Hollak, Wytske Versteeg, Bregje Hofstede) will read an excerpt from their work. The poets (Lieke Marsman, K. Schippers, Mustafa Stitou) present the four poems they wrote for the Van Eyck, along with English translations, made by David Colmer. Van Eyck participants for whom language and text are an essential part of their art practice will also present their work. Additionally, artist and writer Miek Zwamborn will present. She has done a short residency in 2015 in the framework of the soon to ben established Jac. P. Thijsse Lab for landscape development. She produced her book at the Charles Nypels Lab. The writer and poet-in-residence programme is sponsored by the Dutch Foundation for Literature.
