Lecture Roulette Artist and former participant Ryan Gander (1976, UK) is internationally known for his extensive use of an ever-expanding range of media. His work varies from installation and sculpture to photographs, performative lectures and writings. In his works, Gander examines both the production of art and the way we perceive it, his humour preventing this from being merely institutional critique. Gander studied at Manchester Metropolitan University (UK), the Jan van Eyck Akademie (Maastricht, NL) and the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten (Amsterdam, NL). Recent projects include Locked Room Scenario, commissioned by Artangel (London, UK); ILLUMInations at the 54th International Art Exhibition of the Venice Biennale; Intervals at Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum (NYC, US); The Happy Prince, Public Art Fund (Doris C. Freedman Plaza, Central Park, NYC, US) and Manifesta 8 (Murica, SP). Recent solo shows have been held at Jörg Johnen Galerie (Berlin, DE); Dazaifu Tenmangu, (Fukuoka, JP); 1223 Gendaikaiga (Tokyo, JP); YU-UN Viewing Room (Tokyo, JP); Annet Gelink Gallery (Amsterdam, NL); Okinawa Prefectural Museum (Okinawa, JP); and Haus Konstruktiv (Zurich, CH).
