Masterclass Jeanne van HeeswijkOp 13 en 14 april en 11 mei is er aan de Jan van Eyck een masterclass met Jeanne van Heeswijk, oud-deelnemer aan de afdeling Beeldende Kunst (1988-1990). De sociaal geëngageerde kunstprojecten van Van Heeswijk zijn vaak gesitueerd in de publieke ruimte. Het publieke domein is de plek waar mensen, culturen en ideeën elkaar ontmoeten en met elkaar geconfronteerd worden. In deze confrontatie ontstaan dan weer nieuwe ideeën en sociale formeringen. Het openbare leven is slechts voor een klein deel gericht op haar fysieke omgeving; vooral tegenwoordig is het veel meer een proces van sociale, economische en culturele activiteiten op verschillende schaal. Vaak zijn culturele interventies de enige manier waarop betrokkenheid in deze processen – opnieuw – kan worden opgeroepen.   Jeanne van Heeswijks masterclass zal verkennen hoe je een cumulatief onderzoeksgericht project kan opzetten dat reageert op zijn omgeving en hoe je nieuwe, contextgevoelige strategieën kan ontwikkelen. Van Heeswijk beschouwt zichzelf als een bruggenbouwer, een intermediair tussen een situatie, een ruimte, een buurt en de mensen die hieraan verbonden zijn. Handelen, ontmoeten en communiceren zijn sleutelbegrippen in haar methodologie.  De kosten voor deze masterclass bedragen € 75. The master class addresses the role, limitations and challenges of sensory perception in the arts. Next to being a professor of theoretical astronomy at Leiden University and professor of cosmology at the University of Amsterdam, Vincent Icke is also an artist and graphic designer who works in a broad range of styles, media, applications and concepts. Being the rare combination of a scientist and artist, researcher and teacher, specialist and populariser of science, he is often a guest in Dutch television programme De Wereld Draait Door.

Rosa sub Rosa 9: Europa 5.1In coproductie met Intro in situ komt het Rosa Ensemble met alweer de negende editie van Rosa sub Rosa. In deze editie wordt samengewerkt met studenten van de Hogeschool van de Kunsten Utrecht en componisten van het conservatorium van Maastricht. Deze bundeling leverde een indrukwekkende, interactieve voorstelling in beeld en geluid op. Het symposium onderzoekt interdisciplinariteit in kunstpraktijken als een manier om nieuwe perspectieven te ontwikkelen binnen het debat over de legitimiteit en relevantie van de kunst. Voormalig onderzoeker Jasper Coppes zal spreken tijdens de werksessie over kennis op vrijdag. Experimental Crossings vindt plaats aan het Conservatorium Maastricht; vanaf 20u verplaatst het programma zich op beide dagen naar de Jan van Eyck Academie voor Rosa sub Rosa 9: Europa 5.1. During the symposium Experimental Crossings, we explore inter-disciplinarity in arts practices as a way to find new openings in the debate on the legitimacy and relevance of the arts.
