Relocating Subalternity6 & 7 april 2012Jan van Eyck Academie Kan de subaltern of ondergeschikte een aanjager van strijd zijn? Wat zijn de politieke implicaties van de stijgende interesse in marginaliteit en subalterniteit in de academische wereld en de kunst? Het symposium Relocating Subalternity wil de grenzen en mogelijkheden van het klassieke begrip subalterniteit verkennen. Hoe verhoudt subalterniteit zich tot agency en subjectiviteit? Wat zijn de mogelijke snijvlakken tussen subalterniteit en andere vormen en ervaringen van subjectivering?  De conferentie zal ruimte bieden aan een politieke en theoretische confrontatie tussen verschillende conceptuele en normatieve posities die opduiken in de feministische, postkoloniale en queer theorie. Sprekers zijn Sara de Jong, Nikita Dhawan, Elsa Dorlin, Dhruv Jain, Jamila Mascat, Jasbir Puar en Asha Varadharajan. Srila Roy is helaas verhinderd; de organisatie heeft Sara Motta bereid gevonden haar plaats in te nemen. De affiche voor de conferentie is ontworpen door Ina Kwon.
