Diego Tonus (IT_NL)
Within his artistic practice, Diego Tonus (b. 1984, Italy) focuses on reproduction as a tool of investigation to question control systems and power structures by transforming images, objects and collective experiences he selects, in order to put them in a new process of thought and present their underlying structures of codification and normativity. Tonus has presented his work internationally including ar/ge kunst Kunstverein Bozen (2017); Saal Biennal, Tallin (2017); the Hammer Museum, Los Angeles (2016); WIELS, Brussels (2015); Whitechapel Gallery, London (2015); Stedelijk Museum Bureau Amsterdam (2013) and Palais de Tokyo, Paris (2013) among others.
At the Van Eyck the artist developed the sculpture A Moment of Darkness part of the series Fragments of a Conversation with a Counterfeiter contributing to a discussion about transformation and transportation of value, both related to questioning the valorisation of time and space in the Bitcoin Era.
