Raja'a Khalid (AE)
Raja’a Khalid (b. 1984, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia) is an artist from Dubai and holds an MFA in Fine Art from Cornell University. Her practice is concerned with the Arabian Gulf region and its narratives of class, commodity circulation, pre-Islamic paganism and contemporary consumer culture. Her current work aims to look at the Gulf’s own streaming motifs of masculinity, male initiation, game, discipline, athleticism, sport, adornment, fetish, desire, conspicuous production, fitness, consultancy culture and crypto-secularity.
