Two Van Eyck participants, Elisa van Joolen and Marjet Zwaans, are taking part in the Far-off Nearby project hosted by Nieuw Dakota in Amsterdam.
Far-off Nearby is a long-term project and its participants are developing ways to chart the translocal and its meaning. The participants' work aims to (re)activate and strengthen the connections with Amsterdam North by portraying it in the form of an activity, an intervention or a temporary work of art. The participating artists shed light on social issues regarding public space and research the role of “someone’s mother tongue” through various workshops in community centers, performances and bike rides.
