K. Schippers poet-in-residence

K. Schippers is the new poet-in-residence at the Van Eyck. On Wednesday 28 October at 17:30 Van Eyck participant Jason Hendrik Hansma will have a talk with him. Welcome to join! (in English)

K. Schippers (the pseudonym of Gerard Stigter; Amsterdam, 1936) made his first appearance in Dutch literature in 1958 as the editor of the remarkable magazine Barbarber. The magazine portrayed everyday reality with an ironic verve that was in stark contrast with the expressionism of the ‘Fifties’ poets who formed the dominant movement at that time. The method has produced countless drily comic classics. Schippers is an observer of everyday live and his poetry lacks any pretension.

The poet-in-residency is made possible with the support of the Dutch Foundation for Literature.
