Samuel Saelemakers is a Curator at Witte de With in Rotterdam. He holds an MA in Art Philosophy and Aesthetics from the Université Paris IV-Sorbonne and an MA in Philosophy from the University of Antwerp.

Projects he (co-)curated at Witte de With include a.o.: THE NUDE AND THE SAP by Daniel Dewar & Grégory Gicquel; the king, the door, the thief, the window, the stranger, the camera by Judy Radul; Decorations by Kasper Bosmans; WERE IT AS IF by Bik Van der Pol; two thousand fifteen by Mark Geffriaud; Bit Rot by Douglas Coupland; In Light Of 25 Years with Özlem Altın, Zin Taylor, Xu Zhen, Wineke Gartz, Mahony, Raimundas Malašauskas, Germaine Kruip, Camille Henrot, and Freek Wambacq; Art In The Age Of… Planetary Computation ; Dai Hanzhi: 5000 Artists.
From 2012 to 2014, Saelemakers was the project curator on Moderation(s), a long-term project steered by Heman Chong, unfolding between Witte de With and Spring Workshop, Hong Kong. As part of this program together with Chong he co-curated the exhibition The Part In The Story Where A Part Becomes A Part Of Something Else. In 2013 he co-organized an international research symposium on Speculative Art Histories, in collaboration with Erasmus University’s Centre for Art and Philosophy.

Publications he (co-) edited include In Light Of 25 YearsBit Rot, and End Note(s).
Saelemakers is visiting lecturer at the HISK, Ghent; St Lucas School of Arts, Antwerp; Jan van Eyck, Maastricht. He has published interviews, essays and reviews in publications such as Yishu Journal of Contemporary Chinese Art, NY Arts Magazine, and Artdependence. He is also Chairman of the board of Rib, Rotterdam.

Prior to joining Witte de With he was research assistant to curator Jean-Hubert Martin and project assistant at SAM Art Projects, Paris.
