As part of the In-Lab Scores & Structures: From Mind to Map to Muscles the open workshop Power Games by social designers and researchers Gabriel Fontana and Vivien Tauchmann will take place on the October 2nd from 13:00 – 15:00 at the Van Eyck.
By considering the practice of sport as a performance of wider social structures, both Gabriel Fontana and Vivien Tauchmann develop bodily experiences and performative acts as tools to understand, deconstruct and challenge pre-dominant power structures. These normative logics are often internalized, affecting our bodies without us being aware of it due to the layers of enculturation that reinforce daily power relations.
By exploring where the experience of the participants becomes the material and research tool itself, Fontana and Tauchmann present and experiment with their individual sets of performative tools to reflect on and change the rules of the social games that we are constantly playing.
The workshop will be followed at 17:00 by a public presentation by Gabriel Fontana and Vivien Tauchmann. They will talk about their individual and collaborative practice.
Participation of the workshop is free and open to everyone, but places are limited to 20 persons. If you are interested to join, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
