The Jan van Eyck Academie would like to thank those who took part in the Living Like an Artist research project as well as to everyone who attended the open discussions and the vernissage of the exhibition on 6 December, 2019. The event was a great success and we appreciated reflecting on and celebrating the project's results together with you.
The opening was preceded by a number of presentations during which Prof. Aagje Swinnen and Prof. Anne-Julchen Bernhardt discussed the project's findings. Hereby we invite you to take a look at Part 1 - There's No Limit to an Artist! A Critical Inquiry into Age-Related Policies and Experiences at the Jan van Eyck Academie -, and Part 2 - The Art of Resilience. Professional Artists' Experienves of Continuing Creative Practices in Place.
Offering an insight into various environments inhabited by artists who are in the later stages of their evolvement, the event was also complemented by a screening of a short documentary by Richard Dols.
The Living Like an Artist project was carried out by the Jan van Eyck project agency Mirror, collaboratively with Maastricht University and RWTH Aachen. It is a continuation of Like an Artist – a project initiated in 2016. More information can be found here.
